Volunteer Lawyer Program of Northeast Indiana
The Volunteer Lawyer Program of Northeast Indiana, Inc. (VLP) offers free legal services for low income individuals. Counties served by the VLP are: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley. Local attorneys from these counties provide assistance to our clients.
Individuals seeking assistance must call the VLP office to determine if they qualify for the program. Qualification is based on household income and assets, case type and availability of volunteer attorneys. Assistance is offered for civil cases only. For a complete list of the type of cases the VLP will consider see the Services page.
Once a client qualifies for the program, he or she will need to provide the VLP with the necessary financial and legal documents required for the successful completion of the qualification process. Staff members from the VLP then attempt to place the client with an attorney. Assistance may be in the form of direct representation or advice.
